In keeping with its promise to ensure regular maintenance of approved dumpsites across the state, the Delta State Waste Management Board on Friday, embarked on the pushing back of the Ika dumpsite.

The exercise which was supervised by the member representing Delta North on the Board, Mr Cosmas Igbenije, joined by the Director, Operations, Mr. Michael Esegba, was to make the dumpsite easily accessible, tidy and spacious for the waste managers, otherwise known as Private Sector Participants (PSPs) who use it.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Igbenije said the Mofe Edema-led Board had zero tolerance for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in urban towns and cities of the state, including Agbor, adding that the pushing of the dumpsite was on the Board Chairman’s directive.

Igbenije commended Hon Edema for his leadership qualities, which had ensured team work in the establishment, noting that the Board was in a hurry to contribute to the success story of Governor Sheriff’ Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.

Also speaking, the Director, Operations, Mr Michael Esegba, attributed the improvement in the Board:s field operations to the support of the Board Chairman, Hon Mofe Edema, whom he described as a man of no dull moment.

Mr Esegba revealed that operational equipment were always available as the Board Chairman ensured that they were regularly serviced and faulty ones fixed for timely evacuation of waste and maintenance of dumpsites

It will be recalled that the Board Chairman, Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, had, in an interview with newsmen shortly after his inauguration, along with others on December 4, 2024, by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, promised a new dawn of waste management in Delta that would see the Board contributing more significantly to the actualization of the vision of the Oborevwori administration.
