The first member of the Board of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Sam Sodje, has felicitated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his recent induction into the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Hall of Fame.
Sam Sodje, an ex-international footballer, in his congratulatory message, described the induction as apt and timely, having come when the Governor was walking his talk to give Deltans the promised good governance and enhanced well-being.
He noted that the double-barrelled honour, with the title of ‘Omorotomo of Urhobo land’, conferred on him by Urhobo Traditional Rulers’ Council to cap it up, was a good way to appreciate the Governor for his good works.
While saying that the historic induction was a stepping stone for more honors for the Governor, the former Super Eagles player commended the UPU and Urhobo traditional rulers for the recognition and urged them to continue to pray for and support the Governor to succeed.
Sam Sodje maintained that nothing short of accolade was good enough for Oborevwori, who came prepared to serve and had proved to even his critics that he remained a Governor for all Deltans and would not discriminate against any section of the state.
The ex-centre back defender of the national team urged the Governor to remain a good ambassador of the Urhobo nation in his exalted position and continue to strive to leave enduring legacies for posterity.
He prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the Governor in the onerous task of giving the state a purposeful leadership.
