He said the interest of the Ika North East Local Government in the maintenance of the dumpsite in the area was highly appreciated, adding that the focus on environmental sanitation was in tandem with the vision of the state government to keep the state clean.

The DSWMB Chairman solicited a closer collaboration with the Local Government in driving the activities of the Board, especially creating awareness on the need to key into the PSP model and desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Also speaking, the member representing Delta North on the Board,  Mr. Cosmas Igbenije, applauded Monday Odigwe for his exceptional leadership qualities which had translated to a remarkable transformation of the Local Government Area and urged other Council Chairmen in the state to emulate him

Responding, Hon Monday Odigwe expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the Waste Management Board delegation that his administration would continue to prioritize the pushing of the dumpsite, clearing of road shoulders, and de-silting of gutters, while executing mega legacy projects across the Local Government Area.

Odigwe affirmed that he would not leave any stone unturned in fulfilling his campaign promises, stressing that his administration would drive all initiated projects to their logical conclusion before leaving office..

The Council Chairman pledged support for the Board, saying  that the State and Local Government shared a symbiotic relationship on issues bordering on the well-being of Deltans.

He emphasized that being in a  position of authority was not for self aggrandizement, but for selfless service to the people, especially the less privileged.
