Flanked by his beautiful wife, Lady Theresa Ogidi-Gbegbaje, the celebrant had this to say, “I have remained steadfast and held on to God despite difficulties and challenges.”, he said adding ” God has brought me to this height and has continuously being a source of strength and protection for me and my family”.

Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje who is the current Chairman Delta State Bureau of Pensions and former Permanent Secretary, Government House Asaba, said at 60 his joy knew no bounds, stressing that the grace of God gave him every reason to celebrate.

While thanking dignitaries for honouring his invitation, Ogidi-Gbegbaje concluded that he will continue to praise God for his mercies and compassion towards him.

Earlier in his sermon, Reverend Father Oghenetega Ogbeni, said birthdays not only reminded the celebrant of  years past, but also afforded the opportunity to reflect on the journey of life, the grace and mercies of God and the need to thank God for the gift of life.

Rev. Fr. Ogbeni likened the importance of birthday thanksgiving to the biblical 10 leper healed by Jesus Christ out of whom only one came back to thank Him.

The Priest emphasised the need for Christians to make thanksgiving a way of life, describing it as a sure way to receive and sustain God’s blessings.

At the reception of guests, Commissioner for Works, (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, described the celebrant as a man that exemplified love and built bridges of friendship.

While praying for God’s continued blessings upon Sir Ogidi-Gbegbaje and his family, the Commissioner urged the celebrant to remain who he had been and continue to impact his environment positively as he had always done.

Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, who is the Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, and an uncle of the celebrant’s while speaking to newsmen, described Ogidi-Gbegbaje as an embodiment of the grace of God.

He appreciated God for his life while wishing him a glorious 60th birth anniversary.

The event featured the cutting of the birthday cake and presentation of gifts to the celebrant.
