The Delta State Internal Revenue Service, (DSIRS), has encouraged Deltans to pay their taxes as that will help the state government in its drive for accelerated infrastructural development.

The Executive Chairman of the Board of the Service, Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata made the call when officials of the agency appeared before the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for its budget defence.

Hon Ighrakpata, represented by the Executive Director, Operation, Dr Frank Nwaogu, explained that the state government in 2024 effectively utilized tax payers money for the development of the state.

While commending the State Legislature for standing by the establishment, the former Lawmaker appreciated state recognized whistle blowers, and security agencies for their contributions.

Hon Ighrakpata said in 2025 the Service intended to motivate companies which had been faithful with payment of their taxes and asked the defaulting companies not to stretch government patience further.

The DSIRS Board Chairman expressed optimism that come 2025, Deltans should be assured of more infrastructure across the state.

The budget defence session was presided over by the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation and member representing Ika North East Constituency, Hon Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, flanked by other members of the Committee.
