Erijo Urges Real Estate Developers To Ensure Success of National Housing Policy In Delta

The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) Delta State chapter, has been asked to ensure the success of the National Housing Policy in the state 

The Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the call when a delegation of the Executive Council and members of the association visited him at Government House, Asaba 

Hon Erijo said with over three thousand registered corporate firms and members in the country, REDAN was well positioned to make an impressive mark in the provision of affordable housing units for those in need of them, pursuant to the National Housing Policy..

The Chief of Staff pointed out that the State Ministries of  Housing and Urban Renewal were working assiduously to address housing deficit in the state, stressing that the provision of houses was part of the meaningful development component of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda. 

He said there were extant laws in place to protect developers in the state, as well as a conducive environment for investment, which members of the association could leverage on to do business and contribute to the development of the state 

Hon Erijo cautioned against land grabbing, which had caused crisis and security problems in some communities, advising that developers should follow due process in the acquisition of land, approach the Ministry of Lands and Surveys for verification and proper documentation. 

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman, REDAN, Delta State chapter, Barr Ceaser Odede, said the visit was to familiarize the Chief of Staff with the new executive of the association and to seek areas of collaboration with the Delta State Government. 

Barr Odede revealed that the group had over 3,000 registered corporate firms and members in the real estate business committed to contributing to the provision of affordable housing units, pointing out that in Delta, focus was on provision of such houses for civil and public servants..

He urged the state government to regularise and standardise the housing sector to rekindle the confidence of real estate investors, as well as check the illegal activities of land speculators, land agents, community boys through legislation
