The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has commended late Engr. Lawrence Oritsebemigho Ajuyah family for establishing an ultra modern e-library in Warri to promote the culture of reading and academic research among Deltans.
Oborevwori gave the commendation at the official opening of the e-library located near First Baptist Church, GRA Warri.
The Governor, who was represented by the Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Areas Development Agency (WUEDA), Hon Prince Godwin Ejinyere, asserted that the state-of-the-art e-library would help to boost the robust education policy of his administration towards giving every Deltan quality and sustainable education at all levels, urging all to make use of the e-library.
He said government was poised to build, rehabilitate and equip schools and libraries in the three senatorial districts of the state, describing education as the bedrock of development.
Earlier, the children of late Engr. Lawrence Ajuyah described their father as a lover of education, adding that the e-library was the family’s way to immortalize him and promote the reading culture and scholarship among young people.
The Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Ewherido who dedicated the facility to God, described late Engr. Lawrence Ajuyah as a highly cerebral personality, who spent his life and resources to serve God and humanity and urged the children to emulate and uphold their father’s legacy.
The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Orhue 1; the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Abe 1; the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Atuwatse III; and the Pere of Akugbene Mein Kingdom, Kalalama III, were the Royal Fathers present on the occasion.
After the cutting of the tape to officially open the e-library, the Governor’s representative, the Catholic Bishop, the traditional rulers and other stakeholders were conducted round the building housing the e-library.
The e-library will be of immense benefit to Deltans because it is convenient and can be accessed 24 hours from anywhere, even by people living with disabilities.
An e-library has many multimedia contents such as e-books, audio books, and videos. It supports education and research through easy access to a vast collection of academic materials. It enhances research capabilities, supports distance learning and online courses.
An e-library helps in virtual book clubs and discussions, as well as social media integration for community building. It makes information more accessible, convenient, and sustainable.
