TAJU ISICHEI URGES YOUTHS TO SHUN SOCIAL VICES TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Youths of Deltan state have been charged to focus on building their future if they must be responsible leaders of tomorrow. 

The Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Community Development, Hon Taju Isichei, gave the charge on Thursday during a sensitization programme on the concerns that hamper community development in the society. 

Addressing the students of Osadenis High School, West End Mixed Secondary School and others where the programme took place, Hon Isichei noted that the way the present day youths, especially those in school, were going had become a source of worry to all 

The EA said the sensitization was aimed at meaningfully engaging the students on the way to, pursuant to the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration, adding that the Governor was deeply concerned about the increasing rate of social vices among the youths and teenagers 

He advised the students and the generality of youths in the state to shun drug abuse, cultism, prostitution, vandalism and other acts inimical to their families, the community, the state and the society at large 

Hon Isichei emphasized the need for the younger generation to be innovative, creative and resourceful, stressing that discipline and high moral standards were key to responsible and patriotic citizenship.

The EA urged parents to devote quality time to their children to be able to monitor their activities and conduct, while teachers should insist that the children under their care were moulded in character and learning and not led astray through bad example.

He frowned at the unhealthy relationship existing between some teachers and students, describing it as the height of irresponsibly, indiscipline and totally condemnable. 

At Osadenis High School, Asaba, to Principal, Mrs Patience Aguonye, thanked the Governor’s aide for the programme, which he said had become imperative because it could redirect the minds of the young ones and make them patriotic citizens.
