DSIRS Exceeds 2024 Revenue Target In 9 Months, Gives Credit To Taxpayers Money At Work

The Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS) has commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the judicious utilization of taxpayers monies which has boosted the people’s confidence in the Service and made revenue collection

 easier.

The Executive Chairman of the Revenue Collection Agency, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, gave the commended when he hanged out with Journalists at the State NUJ Press Centre in Asaba on Sunday.

The DSIRS helmsman, who was represented by the Executive Director in charge of ICT and Corporate Development, Mr Collins Iwebunor, said the landmark projects and people-oriented programmes of the Oborevwori administration across the three senatorial districts of the state, as well as the peaceful environment for business to thrive, were the magic wands that shored up the IGR beyond target.

Hon Ighrakpata noted that people were now more willing and encouraged to pay their taxes because they needed not to be told that their monies were effectively and transparently at work.

He disclosed that a target of N110.3bn was set for the Service in the 2024 fiscal year, but that nine months into the year, specifically from January to September, 2024, a cumulative revenue of N111.7bn had been collected, representing 101.29% performance.

The Executive Chairman added that the Service also exceeded its target of N95bn in the 2023 fiscal year, having netted in a total of N114.08bn, representing a performance of 120.09%

Hon Ighrakpata solicited the continued support of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal and State Governments, security agencies, revenue collecting banks, the organized private sector, professional bodies, unions, trade associations, business groups, traditional institutions, local government authorities, and the media, towards gaining more grounds in revenue collection for the greater development of the state
