A former Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development in the state, Hon Chika Ossai, has given financial assistance to over one hundred and twenty women in Ndokwa East Local Goverbment Area, in commemoration of his birth anniversary.
Hon Chika Ossai, also a one-time Commissioner for Primary Education, who turned 51, said it felt great to mark the day in the midst of his people at his Iselegu country home,
The grassroots politician doled out ten million naira to support women across all PDP wards in Ndokwa East and the Council of Elders in Iselegu.
Addressing the people, Chika Ossai said the financial support was his modest way of giving back to society, in appreciation for the grace and mercy of God in his life, and appealed to them to use the money judiciously to support their business and enhance their well-being.
He urged the people to remain supportive of the Oborevwori administration, be peaceful and law abiding at all tines..
Hon Chika Ossai regretted the prevailing hardship in the country and challenged the youths to be creative and innovative so as to survive the hard times rather than go into crime.
While expressing optimism that things would get better with time, considering the measures being put in place by government, he called on well to do Nigerians, especially politicians, to always render support to people at the grassroots, stressing that leaders should learn to always associate with their people and not do so only during election periods.
Hon Ossai used the opportunity to call on residents of coastal areas of Ndokwa East to relocate to the upland in response to warnings of impending flooding by weather forecast agencies
The former Commissioner, who also supported two physically challenge persons in Iselegu community with huge sums of money, could not hold back his tears while presenting financial support to a physically challenged lady who was allegedly impregnated by an unknown man.
Hon Victor Ossai and others who spoke, commended Chika Ossai for his kind gesture, describing him as a man with a large heart.
They called on other politicians to emulate his good works and shun the pull him down syndrome which had not done Ndokwa East any good.
The birthday celebration attracted political associates friends, members of Chika Ladies, among others.
The highlight of the occasion was the cutting of the birthday cake and performance by Iselegu traditional masquerade .
