Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has been commended for allocating 215 hectares of land to the newly established Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,Rt. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, gave the commendation while reacting to the historic presentation of the land documents to the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, in Asaba.
Hon Ezechi noted that by the presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy of the large expanse of land in Kwale to the Federal Government, the Oborevwori administration had set the stage for the take off of the University
The Federal Lawmaker said the institution would not only contribute to producing the needed high level manpower for the country’s health sector, but also bring about development to the host community and the state at large.
He also commended the National Assembly for passing the Bill for the enabling Act of the University, and President Bola Tinubu for his assent, which had made the institution a creation of the law.
Hon Ezechi assured the Federal and State Governments that the entire Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency and the host community, Kwale, in particular, would support the University to take off and grow to a reputable citadel of learning.
While urging the Federal Government to take advantage of the magnanimity of the State Government to hasten up the take-off of the University, Hon Ezechi appealed to the people of Kwale to be hospitable to the staff and students of the institution, as well as contractors to be engaged to build structures on the land by the Federal Government.
