A 142-year jinx was broken at the weekend in the Soludo family of Isuofia, in Aguata local government area of Anambra State, when Governor Charles Soludo married off his first daughter, Adaora, to Arinze Ibekwe of Odoje village, in Onitsha North local government area
The marriage, which was contracted according to the custom and tradition of the Isuofia community, was attended by the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Senator Andy Ubah, Hon Pascal Agbodike of the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Somtochukwu Udeze, among others
Speaking on the occasion Prof Charles Soludo described the giving out of his daughter’s hand in marriage as a significant milestone, affirming that it was the first time that would happen in his family in 142 years due to the scarcity of female children until God blessed him with four daughters.
The Anambra Governor wished the couple a blessed and fruitful marriage, urging them to uphold both traditional and Christian matrimonial rites, genuinely show love to each other and guard against third party influence in their union.
