The Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, who gave the charge while administering the relevant oaths on the Councillors, reminded them that they could not have won the election without the support of the people.

Dr. Ezenyili said it behoved the Councillors to fulfil the promises they made to the electorate while seeking their votes, adding that they should diligently serve the people and effectively represent their wards.

He emphasized that the 20 Councillors should work as a team, shun gossips and collectively take decisions that would serve the interest of the majority, insisting that there should be absolute respect for constituted authority and loyalty to the system.

Dr. Ezenyili said they should take advantage of their youthfulness and vibrancy to render quality service to the people, bearing in mind that posterity would reckon with how well or otherwise they utilized the mandate given to them to represent their wards at this time in history.

Responding on behalf of the Councillors, a former leader of the Council’s Legislative Arm, Hon Michael Okonji, pledged that they would strive to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Some party leaders who witnessed the event, called on the Councillors to work as a team and put the interest of the Council and the people they were elected to serve above selfish considerations
