The Labour Party Councilorship candidate of ward one, Aniocha South local government area, for the July 13, 2024 Council polls, Uweagha Afam Precious, has urged the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to guarantee the protection of the minority political parties in the election.

Uweagha, who was speaking with newsmen at Otulu on Monday, said the call had become necessary following the apprehension that DSIEC would compromise the election.

The LP candidate, who said he had campaigned rigorously with his teeming supporters across the ward, comprising Otulu, Azagba and Edo Ogwashi, expressed optimism of winning the election in a free and fair contest.

He challenged DSIEC to come out clean and conduct a credible election, insisting that the Commission must be apolitical and ensure a level Play ground for all the candidates without any exception

Uweagha promised to carry the people of Aniocha South ward one along if elected, pointing out that the empowerment of youths and farmers in the agrarian communities in the ward would be given priority attention.

He called on the people of Otulu, Azagba and Edo Ogwashi to come out enmass for the election and freely vote for him for quality representation in the Council

Reacting to the apprehension expressed by the LP candidate, the Director, Public Affairs and Communications of DSIEC, Mr Arubi Orugbo, advised all candidates of opposition political parties for the election to get themselves prepared, rather than waste their time on frivolities, fear and inferiority complex.

Orugbo reiterated the commitment of DSIEC to conducting free, fair and credible Council elections come July 13, 2024.
