The Campaign Council of the Oshimili South Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday visited ward 11, at the Cable Point axis of Asaba, to canvass support for the party’s candidates in the July 13 Council polls.
The campaign team, led by the LGA leader of the party and one-time State Chairman of PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor, defied the bad weather to be with party faithful in solidarity with the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates for the election.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Uzor urged the people of the ward to remain committed to delivering Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, and their two Councilorship candidates come July 13, 2024.
The LGA Campaign Council Chairman, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, reminded the people that the candidates could only win with their votes, and appealed to them to vote enmass for PDP because it remained the only party with the interest of the people at heart
The LGA Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, who also addressed the campaign rally, maintained that there was no opposition to PDP in Oshimili South, expressing the optimism that the party would carry the day in the polls.
The ward leader and Chairman, Board of Directors of the Delta State Rural Development Agency (RDA) Engr. Smart Meka, said the ward was fully ready for the election and would deliver all the candidates.
Engr. Meka, however, appealed to the Chairmanship candidate, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili and the Councilorship candidates not to abandon the electorates after winning their elections, insisting that the people must be carried along in the scheme of things.
The Ward Coordinator of the Campaign Council, Hon Chinedu Okafor, popularly called C to C, told the campaign team that all the cells in the ward had been covered and victory was sure for the party and its candidates
Speaking on behalf of the Arewa community in the ward, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Hausa/Fulani Affairs, Alhaji Usman Muktar, said the community was happy with the performance of the PDP government at the state and local government levels and would vote for the party in the forthcoming local government election.
Earlier, the Chairman of the ward, Hon Afam Uzor, said they were happy to host the Campaign Council, assuring that the ward would maintain its winning streak in the election.
