The Oshimili South Local Government Arcade in Asaba, on Monday, played host to a campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the July 13 Council elections in the LGA..
Addressing the gathering of party leaders, elders, women and youths of Oshimili South ,the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the LGA had all it would take to convincingly win the forthcoming elections.
Sir Onyeme noted that the government of the Peoples Democratic Party at the state and local government levels had delivered on the promises of peace, security, infrastructure and human capital development, to guarantee landslide victory for its candidates.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the party, Olorogun (Dr.) Kingsley Esiso, said the party was sure of winning the Council polls, describing the rally as a celebration of victory for the party and its candidates.
Dr Esiso, however, urged the people of Oshimili South to come out in their large numbers come July 13, 2024, to perform their civic responsibility and be part of the success story of the election.
Others who spoke at the rally, including the Chairman of Oshimili South PDP Campaign Council, Chief Edwin Uzor, the Director General, Chief Darlington Ijeh, the member representing Oshimili South in the State Assembly, Hon Bridget Anyafulu, and forner Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, expressed confidence in the chances of the party in the election.
They noted that the party’s candidates in the LGA were young and energetic, stressing that the Chairmanship candidate, Dr Kelvin Ezenyili, did exceptionally well in his first tenure and would do better if given a second chance.
Earlier, the LGA Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, said the campaigns had been thorough in all cells and wards in the area, which he maintained was a strong base of PDP.
The highlight of the rally was the presentation of the party’s flag to the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates.
