The state government has reiterated its commitment to giving priority attention to issues bordering on the welfare of workers.

The Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the pledge when members of a support group, Grassroots Workers Network, visited him at Government House, Asaba.

Chief Erijo noted that the state’s workforce was key to the success of government and should not be undermined, adding that the massive support of Delta workers for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 general election was quite commendable.

He appreciated the role of Grassroots Network Network inin mobilizing public servants in the state to support the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the outcome of the April 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Hon Erijo thanked the group for acknowledging that Governor Oborevwori had so far kept to his promises to workers in the state, assuring that he would continue to have the welfare of workers close to his heart.

The Chief of Staff promised to facilitate the group’s planned visit to the Governor, even as he urged members of the organisation to be patient, as their efforts and contributions could be appreciated in different ways.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the group, Mr. Itie Efe, said the visit was to familiarize the state government with the body, made up of mostly Directors, Assistant Directors and other top management staff of MDAs across the country.

Mr Efe informed the Chief of Staff about the role played by the group in the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, pointing out that they had no regrets working for him because he had fulfilled his promises to workers in the state.

He said the group would like to visit the Governor and solicited the support of the Chief of Staff in facilitating it, while urging the Governor to consider members of the body in his reward system.
