The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) Delta State chapter, has said the impressive performance of the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in his one year in office, has vindicated the group in his adoption as the sole candidate for the 2023 Governorship election in the state 

CUPP, at a joint press conference with the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Delta State chapter, to felicitate Governor Oborevwori on his first year anniversary, maintained that he had performed beyond expectations in all sectors of the state.

The State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Prince Henry Eze, who briefed, said Oborevwon’s one year in office had been characterized by peace as all the different ethnic nationalities in the state had lived together without inter-communal rancour.

Prince Eze stated that as the longest serving Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly the Governor had  combined strength, humble carriage and the capacity for harnessing amazing team spirit for successful implementation of his M.0.R.E agenda.

“In terms of infrastructural development, Governor Oborevwori has practically converted Delta State to a huge construction site as his administration is connecting communities with roads and bridges for sustainable development.

“Perhaps most iconic of his infrastructural projects is the award of a N78 bn  contract to Julius Berger for the construction of  three mega bridges , cloverleaf and road expansion works in Warri and Effurun. Other road networks and bridges are scattered all over the three senatorial districts of the state

He commended the Oborevwori administration for attracting the establishment of three new Faculties in the University of Science and Technology Ozoro, namely Basic Medical Science, Pharmacy and Health Science, all approved by the National University Commission (NUC).e

The State IPAC Chairman said the state government had also built and commissioned an administrative block and tarred 2km of internal roads in the same University.

He  commended Governor Oborevwori for his friendly disposition to workers, which he  demonstrated  by paying the backlog of over N5bn promotion arrears of civil servants, while also facilitating a loan of N40 bn for payment of local government pensioners and also ordering the recruitment of 2000 teaching and non- teaching staff across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state

CUPP and IPAC also lauded Oborevwori for the payment of 2023 bursary to over 30,000 students of Delta State origin in tertiary institutions and for  approving a 25% reduction in acceptance fees in the four states-owned Universities.

“The Delta State Government has provided palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on workers, widows, vulnerable groups and the aged the society.

“The State MORE Grant Scheme has recorded tremendous results as 3000 beneficiaries, in targeted trades/artisans have been empowered. Also the number of direct beneficiaries of the Delta COVID -19 Action Recovery and Economic stimulus (D-CARES) has exponentially increased from 36,353 to 110,841 within one year of the Oborevwori administration.

“All these feats were achieved without the Governor borrowing a dime in the last one year.

Prince Eze, who was flanked by the State Chairman of CUPP, Chief Efe Tobor, a former State Chairman of IPAC, Chief Fred Obi, among others, said the groups would continue to monitor the activities of the PDP government in Delta State and would not hesitate to criticize when necessary.

He wished Governir Oborevwori more successes in the remaining years of his administration.
