The Senator representing Delta South senatorial district in the National Assembly, Chief Joel Onowakpor -Thomas, has said he is there to serve the entire people of Delta South and not his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Onowakpor – Thomas stated this on Sunday in Asaba while explaining to newsmen why he attended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s first anniversary thanksgiving

He said as a representative of one-third of the state, it would be disrespectful and unpatriotic for him not to honour the Governor’s invitation, not just to him alone, but also to the other two Senators from the state, to the thanksgiving, stressing that after winning an election, party affiliation must be jettisoned in the governance process in the overall interest of the people.

The Senator said Oborevwori was his Governor and indeed the Governor of all Deltans, pointing out that though he had been inclusive to an extent in his appointments, he needed to appoint credible members of the opposition into his cabinet.

Onowakpor – Thomas emphasized that he would not have been in Abuja representing Delta South if he did not come from Delta State in the first place, making it imperative that he should dwell less on party politics, as a servant-leader, and work for the good of the state.

He maintained that a good leader should be broad-minded, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who appointed a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, former Governor Nyesom Wike, as FCT Minister.
