The Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, WUEDA, Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere says the development projects and programmes of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are beneficial to all Deltans, irrespective of the political pressure groups they belong to.

Hon. Ejinyere stated this at Effurun when he played host to a political pressure group, the Okpe Sapele Uvwie Governorship Movement, OSUGM, which paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The WUEDA DG said the Agency was one of the state government’s interventionist initiatives to bring back the lost glory of Warri, Uvwie and the environs, and commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Oborevwori, for empowering the Agency to discharge its responsibilities.

He said phase one of the Warri and Uvwie flood control project had been completed, while  phase 2 was ongoing, and phase 3 just awarded for the same reason, and for the benefit of all.

While appreciating the group for supporting the election of Rt. Hon. Oborevwori as Governor, the WUEDA Director General said the appointment of people to political offices was at the instance of the Governor whose policies had been beneficial to both individual and pressure groups.

He said if Governor Oborevwori had not continued and or completed the projects initiated by his predecessor, many Deltans would have suffered today, and called for prayers for the Governor to succeed in his resolve to give  the Oil City a befitting facelift.

Hon Ejinyere told the group that WUEDA’s activities were tied to the approved state budget. “We supervise and equally implement but we don’t have funds for private projects. We are beginning to stabilize. If you have lofty ideas that can help grow the area, please bring them to the Agency. We don’t do self projects. I strongly believe that you might have gone to other MDAs like ours but that’s fine”, Ejinyere told the group.

On the group’s request for political appointments for its members, Okakuro Ejinyere said the Governor was not unmindful of their roles in his election. “I will convey your request to the appropriate quarters but the Governor has the discretion to appoint people to positions”, he said.

“If you are asking for more appointments, fine, but not because your group has not benefitted, as other groups also worked for the Governor’s election”, Prince Ejinyere further said.

Earlier, the group which spoke through Mr. Edwin Ekaraja and Mrs. Elizabeth Odiete, said they campaigned that Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie should produce the Governor, thanking God that Okpe LGA did.

The group, however, alleged that since the Governor emerged, no member of the group had been given any political appointment. “Elections will come again and there is the need to maintain the existing structures for the next campaign”, the group stressed.
