The Chairman, Task Force on Recovery of Illegally Acquired Delta State Government Lanpd, Chief Frank Omare, has said there will be no room for sentiment to the core mandate of the Task Force.
Chief Omare, in a chat with newsmen in Asaba, said there were official procedures for the acquisition of government land, and anything contrary to such procedures was outrightly illegal
He pointed out that those illegally occupying government lands had been given enough notice to quit such lands, as there was no room for the regularization of their documents
The Task Force Chairman sympathized with those who were mislead by land grabbers and blamed them for not properly verifying from the appropriate authorities before acquiring the lands.
Chief Omare, who specifically cited Dennis Osadebey University, Asaba, GRA Agbor, front of Ughelli stadium, other locations in Warri, Sapele, among others, as areas of concern, insisted that any government land acquired without approval would not be spared, no matter the individual involved.
He advised anyone affected to go to whoever sold the land to him or her to sort out the problem, emphasizing that ignorance of the law was not an excuse to do wrong and get away with it.
Chief Omare said the recovery of illegally acquired land across the state was a task that must be done, urging unsuspecting members of the public not to fall victim of land grabbers and speculators, but instead painstakingly verify the genuineness of any land from the Ministry of Lands and Surveys and the Ministry of Urban Renewal before making payment.
