Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has enjoined Christian faithful to continue to uphold the true essence of Easter in their daily living.

Rt Hon Guwor who stated this in his message to Deltans on the Easter celebration, particularly urged the Christian community to use the period to pray for the state and the country at large.

The Speaker’s message is contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke and made available to newsmen in Asaba, the State capital.

Guwor stressed the need for Christians to reflect on the import of the celebration by exhibiting love and the willingness to sacrifice in their day to day living.

The Speaker noted that the admonition had become necessary due to the prevailing disconnect among the people in terms of true love, mutual respect and genuine affections for one another.

He said the absence of the three elements were capable of endangering sustainable peace, unity of purpose and development in the society.

Rt Hon Guwor emphasized that Easter remained not just a celebration, but a period of sober reflection and genuine reconciliation with God.

“As Christians the world over mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ – the Son of God as epitomized by  Easter, I congratulate Deltans for the religious event and enjoin the people to reflect on the essence of the celebration.

“Easter is a period in the global calendar when Christians mark the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died for the love he had for mankind.

“We need so much of such genuine love and sacrifices to grow our country Nigeria.

“The bible tells us that Jesus-the only Son of God whom is recorded had no sin, chose to suffer and die for the sins of the World. No other sacrifice and love could be stronger than this.

“Therefore, if we profess to be followers of this sinless heavenly being, it certainly behoves us to follow His footsteps by extending same love to our neighbours”,  Guwor said.

While saying that the Country is going through myriad of challenges which bother largely on the economy and security, the Speaker also emphasized the need for Christians to remember the country in their collective and individual prayers, particularly at this period of Easter.

Rt Hon Guwor expressed the hope and faith that through such prayers, God will continue to intervene in the affairs of the country, adding that Nigeria is in the hands of God.

He enjoined the leadership of the Christian community to always emphasize on the need for good morals among their followers, and, indeed the larger society.

“On behalf of my family, constituents and the State Assembly, I wish the good people of Delta State a happy Easter celebration.

“It is my hope and prayers that this period would usher us into more peaceful, glorious and positive lives.

“As we celebrate, may God give us the true essence and benefit of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Happy celebrations” Guwor stated.
