The Nigerian Bar Association Asaba Branch, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly.
The Chairman of the Branch Precious Nwadimuya Esq, who led the delegation, amplified the roles and duties of the Nigerian Bar Association in promoting the rule and advancement of the law in the society.
Nwadimuya Esq expressed the availability and readiness of the NBA Asaba Branch to partner with the House through its Law Reform Committee to ensure that only good, beneficial, relevant and enforceable laws were passed by the State Assembly for the overall benefit of Deltans.
He expressed availability for public hearings and other related activities to ensure that Delta State met up and maintained a high standard in law making.
Nwadimuya Esq lauded the Speaker for his receptive nature towards the Branch during the recently concluded Law Week, which was properly organised and well attended.
Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, highlighted the primary duty of the House to make laws and the readiness of the House of Assembly to collaborate with stakeholders, including the NBA in that regard.
He lauded the wholesome nature of the visit and the gender inclusive composition of the delegation, as well as the youth involvement.
Guwor expressed the readiness of the Assembly to welcome participation in the law making process, hence the public hearings, urging the Law Reform Committee to work closely with the Deputy Speaker and Chairman, House Committee on Legislative Compliance.
The visit featured the presentation of gifts.
