The skill acquisition center of the Oshimili South Local Government of Delta state has been commissioned.
The Acting Chairman of the Local Government, Mrs Chidinma Idao, who commissioned the facility at the Council’s secretariat in Asaba on Wednesday, said it would train interested members of the public in different trades at affordable rates.
Mrs Idao, who is also the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) of the Local Government, pointed out that the center would only carry out training in fashion design and hair dressing for the now, while training in order skills would follow in due course.
She commended the Elumelu Foundation and the Uche Osadebe administration of the Council for equipping the fashion design and hair dressing departments of the center, assuring that the best of training would be offered at the center
The Acting Chairman also announced the opening of the Local Government Canteen, which she called Oshimili South Cuisine, saying it would serve decent and affordable local and continental dishes to staff and other customers. Of
Mrs Idao said improving the working condition of Council staff had just begun and would be taken to the next level in order to guarantee job satisfaction and increase productivity.
In his remarks, the Oshimili South Local Government chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE), Comrade Chamberlain Aniche, commended the Acting Chairman for opening the skill acquisition center and staff canteen.
Comrade Aniche expressed satisfaction with the attention being given to the welfare of his members by the Council and called on them to continue to dedicate themselves to duty in the overall interest of the Local Government.
The HOD, Community Development, Julie Olise, other top officials and a cross section of staff witnessed the ceremony.
