Contemporary Nigerian youths have been commended for their interest in ventures previously thought to be the exclusive preserve of the older generation.
The Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, gave the commendation on Wednesday while playing host to a delegation of Father Land Humanitarian Foundation International during a courtesy call on him at Government House, Asaba.
Hon Erijo noted that present day Nigerian youth were energetic, innovative and full of ideas on how to make the society better, adding that the era of seeing youths as leaders of tomorrow was gone, with most of them doing great things.
He thanked the leadership and members of Father Land Humanitarian Foundation International for striving to be of help to the poor and vulnerable in the society, especially with the prevailing economic hardship in the country
The Chief of Staff particularly appreciated the decision of the organisation to reach out to the less privileged in some parts of the state this Easter period, describing the gesture as thoughtful and timely.
Hon Erijo pledged assistance to the group and urged the members to be focused and committed to achieving the set objectives.
Earlier, the President of the Foundation, Humanitarian Freda Akpabio, said the visit was to familiarize the Chief of Staff with the activities and programmes of the body, adopt him as the father of the group and solicit his support.
She stated that the Foundation was into humanitarian activities to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship on the poor and vulnerable in the society, and intended to reach out to some persons in these categories in some parts of the state this Easter season.
