The Director General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, DSCTDA, Chief Patrick Ukah, on Monday led a joint delegation of the Agency and the Executive Committee of the Ibori Golf and Country Club on a condolence visit to the Palace of the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, who joined his ancestors recently.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Ukah sympathized with the bereaved family and the people of Asaba on the death of the revered traditional ruler
He eulogized the late Asagba, describing his death as not only a loss to the people of Asaba and Delta State, but also to the Ibori Golf Club family and the country at large.
Chief Ukah recalled that when he assumed duty as Director General, he visited the Asagba of Asaba to intimate him of the activities and programmes of the Agency, adding that he was also involved in the planting of one thousand trees as part of activities to mark the Asagba’s centenary birthday celebration, which coincided with the Secure, Clean and Green the State Capital Territory Campaign of the Agency.
Ukah, who is also the Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club, said the late Asagba was an epitome of peace and a forthright royal father who dedicated his life to championing the cause of humanity and development in the state.
He stated that the revered traditional ruler, who until his death a few months away from attaining the age of 100 years, was the patron of the Ibori Golf and Country Club, and had developed a lot of interest in Golf.
The DG, while addressing the wife, family members of the late monarch and Palace Chiefs, prayed God to grant the departed king eternal rest, while urging the bereaved to bear the loss and take solace in the fact that Obi Chike Edozien had laid sound foundation for peaceful co- exist in the state.
