The Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, WUEDA, Prince Godwin Ejinyere, has commended the Oborevwori administration for funding the drainage and road projects being supervised by the Agency in its mandate areas.

Prince Ejinyere gave the commendation on Friday shortly after the Governor’s official inspection visit to drainage and road projects being executed by Levant and CCECC in Warri and Uvwie areas, on behalf of the Delta State Government.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality of jobs supervised by the Agency, Governor Oborevwori said the supervisory role of WUEDA led to the speedy completion of the storm water drainage project at Upper Erejuwa road by Okere road, Warri, and urged the Agency to keep the flag flying.

The elated Prince Godwin Ejinyere promised that all government projects being supervised by the Agency under his watch would be executed and delivered on schedule and according to specifications, in line with the MORE Agenda of the Governor.

Prior to the arrival of the Governor at the project sites for inspection, Hon. Ejinyere and his team had carried out unscheduled inspection of the drainage project on Omimi road, by Refinery road, Ekpan, and frowned at the poor safety precaution taken by the CCECC workers on site.

He advised the contractor to be more safety conscious by providing safety kits for its workers.

At Ogbe Layout, off PTI road Effurun, Prince Ejinyere praised the CCECC for completing the drainage aspect of the project, but was not happy with the slow pace of work on the road aspect.

Prince Ejinyere was shocked that no registered engineer was on site, while the manpower and operational vehicles on ground were inadequate, thereby slowing down the pace of work and delaying the project.

He then urged the contractor to take advantage of the dry season and engage more workers and equipment, so as to complete the project before the rains set in, as the state government had released enough funds to take the job beyond its present stage.

Prince Ejinyere said the third phase of the project would soon be awarded by the Delta State Government, and only a serious contractor that could deliver according to specifications and timely, would be considered.

Responding, the site supervisor of CCECC told the DG that the old asphalt was being pulled off, while de-silting of the drains was also ongoing, assuring that the project would be completed in two weeks time.

Meanwhile, the WUEDA’s Chief Site Engineer, Brume Okeme, said the road would serve as a bypass linking PTI and Uti roads when the construction of the flyover projects at PTI junction and Effurun roundabout commence.
