The umbrella body of Ndokwa youths, Ikolobie Ndokwa, on Sunday visited the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, at his Asaba residence.

The delegation, which also included the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, was led by the member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, who, on behalf of the youths, thanked Dr Okowa for his love for the Ndokwa nation while in office.

Hon Ezechi noted that many Ndokwa sons and daughters benefitted from the Okowa administration by way of appointment, while the youths were not left out of the lofty job creation and empowerment programmes of his administration.

The Lawmaker said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state should continue to count on the support of Ndokwa nation, and assured Governor Sheriff Oborevwori that the support given to him and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, in the March 18 Governorship election would be sustained.

He stated that with the big wigs of PDP, including Chief Fidelis Tilije, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Chief Godswill Obielum, Rear Admiral Mike Onah (rtd), Dr Esther Uduehi, Chief Emmanuel Onyekwu, among other committed elders and leaders of the party, nothing less was expected of the Ndokwa nation.

In his remarks, the President General of Ikolobie Ndokwa, Comrade Anslem Nzete, thanked Dr Okowa for ensuring a seamless transition of power to his successor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that his actions so far had shown that his support for Sheriff Oborevwori was not for selfish reasons.

Comrade Nzete, on behalf of his group, congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the final validation of his victory in the March 18 election by the Supreme Court, after surviving a record 38 cases which sought to unseat him.

Responding, Dr Okowa thanked the Ikolobie Ndokwa delegation for the visit, which he said meant a lot to him, and specially commended the member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, for the effective representation of his people in the Green Chambers.

The former Governor said he was encouraged by the level of support the Ndokwa nation gave him while in office and urged the people to extend even more support to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to enable him take the state to greater heights.
