DELTA GOVT PROMISES PATRONAGE OF LOCAL INVESTORS

Delta State Government has pledged support and patronage for local investors to enable contribute meaningfully to the socioeconomic development of the state.

The Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the pledge when he visited an interlocking/paving stone manufacturing company, LMV Construction, at Okpanam.

The Chief of Staff said growing the economy needed the active participation of the private sector and commended LMV Construction for contributing to the actualization of the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration through payment of tax and job creation.

He expressed delight that the owner of the firm, a pharmacist by training, was able to look beyond his profession to establish the company and called on Nigerian youths seeking employment to try their hands on other ventures aside their areas of specialization.

Hon Erijo, who said he was impressed with the quality of products and equipment in the factory, pointed out that government would continue to patronize local investors to encourage them to remain in business.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr Felix Ogbogbo, who conducted the Chief of Staff round the production chain, said though he read pharmacy, he ventured into construction with his basic knowledge of mathematics.

Mr Ogbogbo revealed that the firm, with a bigger formation in Ughelli, currently employed over 100 workers, with the capacity to expand and contribute more to the state’s economy if given the necessary support.

He listed the challenges facing the organisation to include poor electricity, multiple taxation and low patronage and appealed to the state government to intervene.
