The Christ Chosen Church of God, Umuezei quarters, Asaba, on Sunday, 7th January, 2024, witnessed an unprecedented crowd of worshippers, family members, friends and well wishes of the Ogbueshi Dada Okonji family, as the Oshimili South PDP Chairman and his wife marked their 27th marriage anniversary with thanksgiving.
The occasion provided an opportunity for the man of the house to reflect on how it all started, through close to three decades of marital life, with the thick and thin of the union thus far.
He acknowledged the fact that he was not a perfect person, admitted that he might have knowingly or unknowingly wronged his wife and members of the family and asked for forgiveness.
Dada Okonji thanked the Christian community of Christ Chosen Church of God for standing by them, even when he spiritually backslided, and appreciated the grace and mercy of God upon his family.
The Oshimili South PDP Chairman specially thanked the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for appointing him as Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, after serving in the same position in the immediate past administration of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, whom he described as a father.
The couple later, before the capacity crowd in the church auditorium, vowed to deepen their love for each other until death do them part.
In a message, the spiritual leader of the Christ Chosen Church of God, Senior Apostle David Unuefe, said he knew Ogbueshi Okonji and his wife in 2001 when he pastored the Asaba church.
Apostle Unuefe recalled that the couple started life from the scratch, with the attendant difficulties in their way, but thanked God that they were able to overcome their initial challenges and had remained strong in their union for 27 years.
The religious minister reminded Christians that only God could straighten every crucade way and make a way where there seemed to be no way, noting that God made things easy for Dada Okonji and his wife for their marriage to succeed.
The service featured praise and worship, choir ministration and a special thanksgiving by Dada Okonji and his wife, joined by their children, friends well wishers.
