The Councillor representing ward 8 in Oshimili South Local Government Council of Delta state, Hon Rolland Nwabuoku, popularly called ‘Igwe Omenma’, has set the tone for 100 members of his ward to celebrate Christmas.

The dynamic representative on Saturday, at Isieke village, Asaba, dolled out bags of rice and N10,000 cash to each of the one hundred beneficiaries, who were mostly women.

In his remarks on the occasion, which was highly appreciated by the beneficiaries, Hon Nwabuoku said it was in line with the social contract he had entered into with his Constituents.

He explained that this year’s edition was particularly apt due to the hard times occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, which had adversely affected the purchasing power of Nigerians, noting that most people, especially the poor and vulnerable, were merely struggling to survive.

Hon Nwabuoku said since he became the Councillor representing the ward, he had devoted his time and resources, even more than he had earned, to serving his people and would not relent in doing that.

The ward representative urged the beneficiaries to accept the gesture in good faith, stressing that he was under obligation to ensure the well-being of his Constituents, and had been able to sustain the distribution of Christmas gifts to them over the years.

The Chairman of the ward, Ogbueshi Nnamdi Chukwuedo and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Brendan lyie, in their separate remarks, commended Hon Nwabuoku for being consistent with empowering his Constituents.

They noted that the Councillors in Oshimili South Local Government had shown capacity for good representation and were working in line with the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration and the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The LGA PDP Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji and the member representing Oshimili South in the State House of Assembly, Hon Bridget Anyafulu, were among the dignitaries present at the event.
