Members of the Asaba branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, on Thursday, 21st December, 2023 converged on the NBA Asaba Bar Centre to socialize and make merry in the spirit of the yuletide.
The occasion was fun-filled with carols, music, comedy and makossa dance, with lots to eat and drink, just as it provided an opportunity for the younger lawyers to meet and interact with their older colleagues, including Judges and Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
They included Hon. Justice C. O. Emifomiye of the Oleh High Court, the Administrative Judge of the Asaba Judicial Division, Hon. Justice G.B. Briki- Okolosi; the Director General of the Delta State Multi-door Court House, Nnamdi Onyekwe Esq; the pioneer Chairman of the branch, A. K. Nmah Esq.; a senior lawyer in the branch, G. A. I. Mowah Esq, Chike Onyemenam, SAN and A.O. Odum, SAN.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the branch, Precious Nwadimuya Esq, said the novel event was put together for members to relax and enjoy themselves, in the spirit of camaraderie, having worked so hard from the beginning to the end of the year.
Nwadimuya Esq. paid tribute to the founding fathers of the branch for laying the foundation on which it had come to stay and urged members to reach out to the poor and vulnerable persons in the society this festive season and beyond.
In an interview, the pioneer Chairman of the branch, Barr A. K. Nmah, said he was happy to be a part of the event and commended the Precious Nwadimuya-led executive for the initiative, particularly the Christmas welfare package given to members of the branch, which would encourage and give them a sense of belonging.
A former Chairman of the branch and host of the Christmas party, Chukwuma Oseyenim Esq., said it was a suitable platform for lawyers to unwind considering the pressure on them in the line of duty, which hardly allowed them time to relax.
