COUNCILLOR WARD 19, OSHIMILI SOUTH, EMPOWERS 230 WOMEN

Ahead of the 2023 Christmas celebrations, the Councillor representing ward 19, comprising of wards 6 and 8, in Oshimili South local government area, Hon Emeka Okolie, has empowered 230 women of the ward.

Each of the women got a piece of wrapper, blouse material and head tie.

Hon Okolie said it was his little way of giving back to society, adding that the women deserved to be appreciated for their roles in the last Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

He noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South needed to be strengthened for future elections and the women had a key role to play in that direction.

The Councillor said another round of empowerment would come before the Christmas and would capture men, women and youths of the party.

The Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Hon Kelvin Ezenyili, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Brendan lyie, commended the Councillor for positively affecting the lives of his people, noting that he had been consistent with his empowerment programmes.

Ezenyili said it was important for Councillors to reach out to members of their wards, especially this festive period, as a way of making them feel the impact of government at the grassroots.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the ward, Ogbueshi Nnamdi Chukwuedo; the Deputy Senatorial Woman Leader, Delta North, Ngozi Nwabuonwor and the Ward Woman Leader, Mrs Jacinta Onwuegbuzie, said Hon Okolie’s gesture was worthy of commendation and called on the people to continue to support him and the PDP.
