The Chapel of the Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday, December 12, played host to the leadership and members of the House, the Board and management of the Assembly Service Commission, the clergy, invited choirs, among others.
The occasion was the 2023 festival of 9 lessons and carols put together to usher in the yuletide.
The lessons were taken from Bible chapters and verses relating to the birth of Jesus Christ, the reason for the season, while the Assembly, Police and Immigration Service choirs spiced up the event with scintillating carols after each lesson.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, read the 1st lesson taken from Genesis 1: 1-5; the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowowo, followed with the 2nd lesson taken from Genesis 3: 9-15, while the 3rd lesson from Isaiah 9: 6-7, was read by the Majority Leader, Hon (Engr) Emeka Nwaobi.
The President, Delta State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Ojugbana-Orishedere, represented by the Court’s Registrar, Ojeikere Bridget, read the 4th lesson taken from Luke 1: 26-35; the Permanent Secretary, State Civil Service Commission, Mr Federick Oyoro, read the 5th lesson from John 1:1-14 on behalf of the Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko; while the 6th lesson from Micah, 4:1-5, was read by the Minority Leader, Hon Emakpo Edafe.
The 7th lesson from Mathew 2:1-11, was by the Acting Chairman, State Assembly Service Commission, Mr Sunday Ebireri; the 8th lesson from Luke 2:8-14, by the Oshimili South PFN Chairman, Bishop Dave Eyowel and the 9th Lesson from Rev 22:12-17, by the Acting Clerk of the House, Otto Aghoghophia.
The only Bible reading of the day was by Bishop Chuka Agwuegbu, while Rev Emmanuel Etuk of the Church of God Mission handled exhortation.
The event was coordinated by Pastor Ambrose Omafuvwe.
