OBOREVWORI COMMISSIONS SELF-HELP EXECUTED UGBODU WATER SCHEME

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on Sunday, commissioned a 212-feet deep water borehole at Ugbodu, in Aniocha North local government area.

The project was executed by the Ugbodu Development Union, with the support of the Aniocha North Local Government.

The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, commended the Ugbodu community for complementing the developmental efforts of government, promising to encourage and support communities that showed genuine determination to assist the government.

Hon Oborevwori said achieving meaningful development was a collective responsibility, as government could hardly do it alone, given the ever increasing pressure on the state’s resources.

He said the MORE agenda of his administration was designed to capture the critical areas of development in all sectors, assuring the Ugbodu community that they would experience a paradigm shift to a new dawn of government presence.

The Governor thanked the people of Ugbodu for their support for the state government and commended the leadership of the community’s development union for its transparency in the execution of the water project and empowerment of some Indigenes of the locality.

In a welcome address, the President of the Ugbodu Development Union, Prof. Joseph Ebigwai, said the water project and empowerment scheme were conceived at the 2022 conference of the union and funded by 16 donors.

Prof. Ebigwai stated that the projects were meant to assist the government, express communal love for the needy, enhance social cohesion and mitigate criminality and commended the Aniocha North Local Government for supporting the community with the piping of the borehole, provision of a power generatig set and water storage tanks.

Earlier on arrival in the community, the Chief of Staff paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler, Obi Ayo Isinyemeze, who appealed for government presence in his domain.

The Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly and member representing Aniocha North, Hon (Engr) Emeka Nwaobi; a former member of the House, Hon Gabriel Okpunor and the Secretary to Aniocha North Local Government, Mr Kennedy Okoh, were among dignitaries that graced the occasion.
