The proprietor of Great Leaders International School, Ime-Obi Agbor, in Ika South local government area, one Innocent Ezeukwu, aged 46, has been arrested by the police in Delta for alleged defilement of a 4-year old pupil of the school.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, the incident was reported by the little girl’s mother, one Mrs Joy Chukwudi, on 5th October, 2023, at the Agbor Division.
The statement said Mrs Chukwudi reported that she found a blood stain in the child’s private part while bathing her and upon questioning the little girl kept saying that her uncle used the school’s scissors to cut her.
On receiving the complaint, the Area Commander of Agbor detailed a team of investigators to the scene of the alleged crime where the suspect, who happens to be the only male teacher in the school was arrested and taken into custody.
Preliminary investigation led to the issuance of a medical report, and the initiation of an identification parade where the suspect, Innocent Ezeukwu when placed amongst random men, was identified by the victim as the person who allegedly defiled her.
The medical report affirmed that there was “no hymen visualized” in the victim’s private part.
Though the Area Command Agbor had concluded their investigation and charged the case to Court, the Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Wale Abass, directed that the case be withdrawn from Court and immediately transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID) for further meticulous investigation.
The CP assured members of the public and the victim’s family that justice would be served and sued for calm while investigation continued.
