The Chairman of the Delta State Political Assembly (DSPA), a foremost support group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr Williams Ugboh, has said the victory of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 Governorship election in the state is too obvious to be challenged.
Mr Ugboh stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Asaba affirmed Governor Oborevwori winner of the election, having dismissed the petitions filed by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of APC, Chief Kenneth Gbagi of SDP and Mr Ken Pela of Labour Party.
He wondered why the petitioners opted to challenge the election of someone who roundly won in 21 out of the 25 Local Government Areas of the state, leaving Omo-Agege with 4 LGAs, while Chief Gbagi and Mr Pela did not win in any.
The DSPA Chairman said as a stakeholder, he was sure that the Petitioners did not win the election and had no cause to challenge the outcome, pointing out that their actions were unnecessary and distractive.
Mr Ugboh said the Tribunal was right to have dismissed the petitions because they truly lacked merit and advised the petitioners to stop further waste of their time and resources on a case they had no evidence to prove.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for not allowing the multiple litigations to affect his performance and congratulated him on his historic victories at the Tribunal
