As a follow up to the motion adopted by the House of Representatives urging the Federal Government to intervene in the construction of the Okpai-Kwale transmission line and substations, the Member, House of Representatives for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Abuja.
During this visit, the Lawmaker engaged in a productive round-table with a group of TCN executives, including the General Manager (Engineering), Isyaku Dahiru, the Manager (Lines Project), Rabiu Bako, and the Manager (Substations), M. M. Bature, with focus on the factors impeding the progress of the all important electrification project, especially, especially price variations requiring additional funding to sustain the project.
In his remarks, the General Manager (Engineering), Isyaku Dahiru, highlighted one of the project’s impediments to include community related issues, pointing out that some individuals in the community demanded unrealistic monetary compensation from the contractor, which could not be resolved.
Responding, Hon. Ezechi condemned the disruption of the project by the same people who would be the major beneficiaries and promised to address the issue to enable the contractor go back to site,
He emphasized the importance of the electrification project to the people of Ndokwa nation and solicited the support of TCN management in securing increased fiscal allocation to expedite the completion of the crucial electrification project.
