Osowa Owelle Ahaba, Engr Sir (Chief) Christopher Chukwurah, on Sunday celebrated his 70th birth anniversary with thanksgiving at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, West End, Asaba.

The Palace Chief and 4th Degree Knight of Saint Mulumba (KSM), who turned 70 on 1st August, 2023, was joined by his wife, family members, inlaws, friends and well wishers.

The thanksgiving Holy Mass was preceded by his donation of myriad of books to St. Patrick’s College Asaba Library and the planting of 70 economic trees in the premises of St Patrick’s College, Asaba, his alma mater, where he graduated from in 1972, winning the best student prize in Grade 1 with Distinction.

At the end of the Thanksgiving Mass, the celebration continued with a reception at Josephine Place, Gold Hall, Old Anwai road, Asaba, where guests, including Old Students of SPC Asaba, Alumni of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Priests and parishioners of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, West End, Asaba, Knights of Saint Mulumba, Rotarians, members of Ahaba ’88 Club, a representative of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Obis and Olinzeles of Asaba, among others, who gladly sang their anthems and were sumptuously entertained.

Speaking on the occasion, the celebrant thanked God for keeping him strong and healthy at the biblical age of three scores and ten, adding that God’s grace upon his life had been manifestly sufficient.

Engr (Chief) Chukwurah, a retired technocrat, Development Engineer and Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Nigerian Institute of Procurement Engineers (FNIProcE), and Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), said he would devote the remaining part of his life to helping to change the face of the earth through the Climate Change Mitigation Ambassadors in Nigeria (CCMAIN), a Foundation founded by him.

He decried the deplorable face of the earth occasioned by Climate Change and wished that man could inhabit now known habitable exoplanets beautifully created by God, where pollution, deforestation and other conditions harmful to the environment were not in existence.

The Paul Haris Fellow of the Rotary International insisted that a tree must be planted to replace anyone felled and urged Nigerians to help in achieving greener environment for the greater well-being of humans and animals.

Engr (Chief) Chukwurah thanked all who found time to celebrate him at 70 and prayed God to grant them their heart desires.

Earlier, the Olodi Akpe of Asaba, Chief (Dr.) Ngozi Allanah, who chaired the reception, congratulated the Osowa Owelle Ahaba on attaining the age of 70 in good health of mind and body, noting that the celebrant had impacted many lives positively in his journey of life.

The event featured a toast by the Delta State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko; goodwill messages, performance by the popular Asaba Aguba dance group, presentation of gifts to the celebrant and the cutting of the cake.
