Members of the National Youth Service Corps,. NYSC, posted to Delta state have been assured of the warmth and love of Deltans wherever they are posted to for their primary assignment.

The State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Issele-Uku.

The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon (Prince) Johnson Erijo, also assured the Corps members that the state was safe and hospitable, urging them to respect the cultural norms and traditions of the people among whom they would find themselves.

Oborevwori said the Corps members should endeavour to show understanding and adaptability as a way of justifying the reasons for the national service, adding that they should guard the knowledge and skills acquired during the orientation course because they would be invaluable to them in life.

“As leaders of tomorrow, be discreet and transparently objective in your analysis of national, as well as global events and developments as they affect our dear country. You should also be cautious and restrained in your activities and undertakings. Do not engage in risky and dangerous adventures.

“As you report to your places of primary assignment, be prepared to contribute to the sustainable development of the place and community you are deployed to. Operate with an open mind to enable you to explore and discover new grounds, friends and wonderful opportunities.

“Please accept your postings in good faith and be ready to make a difference in the standard of living of the in your host communities by embarking on realistic life changing development projects”, the Governor said.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Alao Olusegun, said the ceremony marked the official disengagement of the Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps members from the three weeks orientation programme and the commencement of their primary and secondary assignments in the state.

Mr Alao stated that despite the large numerical strength of the Batch, the Corps members maintained a high level of discipline in their conduct and expressed optimism that they would actualize the expectations of the Scheme in their places of deployment.

He revealed that majority of the 1,905 Corps members that participated in the orientation course had been deployed to rural schools where their services were mostly needed and better appreciated.
