Members of the Asaba branch of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) have been urged to remain united and progressive in their relationship with the parent body of the union.
The Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon (Prince) Johnson Erijo, made the call when a delegation of the branch paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba.
Hon (Prince) Erijo reminded the visitors that the IDU was formed for the sociocultural development of the Isoko nation, insisting that their deliberations must focus on achieving that objective.
He stressed that remaining united was one sure way of making progress in the union, emphasizing the need for the Asaba branch to show interest in the welfare of its members and the development of the Isoko nation.
The Chief of Staff identified the Isoko Development Union (IDU) as a foremost and one of the most respected sociocultural organisations in the state, with lots of achievements to its credit, and urged the union to continue to champion the cause of peace, unity and progress in the Isoko ethnic nationality.
He thanked me union for the visit and assured the delegation that the Oborevwori administration would always draw from the ideas and contributions of stakeholders, including community based organisations, in the governance of the state.
Earlier, the Asaba branch Chairman of IDU, Karo Ovemeso, said the visit was to congratulate Hon (Prince) Johnson Erijo on his appointment as Chief of Staff, and through him, to thank the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for finding an Isoko man worthy of the appointment.
Ovemeso said the union was open to all Isoko sons and daughters resident in Asaba and urged the Chief of Staff to assist in prevailing on prospective members to join the group to make it stronger.
