The Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission has said the Oborevwori administration is committed to prioritizing promotion in the state civil service, in order to encourage workers to put in their best.

Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr Sunday Ebireri, stated this at the commencement of the second batch promotion exercise held at the Commission’s office in Asaba.

Mr Ebireri said the promotion exercise was for senior staff on Salary Grade Levels 9, 10, 14, 15 and 16, pointing out that the Commission’s main thrust was to build a well groomed legislative bureaucracy that would support the Legislators to achieve greater efficiency in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

He said promotion was part of the incentives the Commission owed the staff, adding that promoting staff as and when due would  motivate them and increase productivity.

Mr Ebireri noted that in line with the M.O.R.E agenda of the Oborevwori administration on peace and security, realistic reforms and opportunity for all Deltans, civil servants in the state would always be carried along, as no meaningful development could take place without a robust bureaucracy.

The Commission’s Acting Chairman assured that the welfare of staff would remain a top  priority of the present administration and commended Governor Oborevwori for approving the payment of promotion arrears of workers and backlog of pensions.

The two-day exercise was conducted by the Chairman, members, secretary and directors of the Commission.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Mr Timbuodo Oyinkro, thanked the Chairman and members of the Commission for  carrying out the exercise as and when due.
