Hon (Barr) Bridget Anyafulu on Tuesday, June 13, succeeded Hon Shedrack Rapu as the member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Hon Anyafulu, one of the two female members of the 8th Assembly, was inaugurated along with twenty six other members, by the newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, who was earlier sworn – in alongside the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Arthur Akpowowo, by the Acting Clerk of the House, Barr Otos Aghoghopia.

The Lawmaker, a practicing Catholic and an advocate of equity, fairness and justice, after the inauguration ceremony, proceeded to St. Joseph’s Pro – Cathedral Church, Asaba, for a thanksgiving service, before joining political and community leaders in the LGA to host family members, constituents, friends and well wishes to a reception at Grand Hotel, Asaba

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Anyafulu ascribed her electoral victory, which culminated to the inauguration, to God who gave her the mandate through the people of Oshimili South.

She said having assumed duty, it was time to work, which she would not do alone, insisting that every right thinking indigene or resident of Oshimili South must directly or indirectly be involved in piloting the affairs of the area because unity was needed for any meaningful progress to be made in the socioeconomic development of the Constituency.

The Legislator reiterated her belief in constructive criticism, but pointed out that people should not sit at the fence and watch things go wrong only to criticize their leaders and apportion blame rather than being part of the solutions to societal and developmental problems.

Anyafulu re-emphasized that she was in the Assembly to serve the interest of all Oshimili South people and solicited their prayers and support to enable her succeed.
