The Flying Eagles of Nigeria Wednesday night defeated Argentina Under 20 national team 2-0 in the round of 16 of the FIFA Under 20 World Cup to qualify for the quarter final of the ongoing FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

The Nigerian side finished at the third spot of their group table with 6 points from 3 matches played, and qualified for the round of 16 as the best loser.

They were paired alongside Argentina who finished at the top spot of their group table, and they were able to secure a well deserved victory over the host country.

The two teams tried so hard to break the deadlock in the first half of the game, but to no avail, as the first half ended in a goalless draw.

Ibrahim Muhammad broke the deadlock for the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in the 61st minute through an assist from Ume Emmanuel before Rilwanu Sarki doubled the lead in the 90th minute to end the match 2-0.

The victory over Argentina Under 20 national team has now helped the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to book their spot in the quarter final of the ongoing FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

Reacting to the defeat, FIFA posted on their verified Twitter handle:
