The Chairperson, Delta State Trade Union Congress (TUC) Women Commission, Comrade Blessing Okpapi, has felicitated Nigerian women workers on the occasion of the May Day, also known as Workers’ Day.
In a message to women workers in the state, Comrade Akpapi said the May Day was important to TUC Women Commission as it provided an opportunity to celebrate the resilience and hard work of workers all over the world, especially Delta state women workers and laborers.
She charged them not to relent on their efforts to create a future where workers labour would be fully appreciated as the engine room of every economy.
The Delta TUC Women Commission Chairperson commended the state government for its labour friendly dispositions and for the various empowerment programs aimed at alleviating the sufferings of women and children.
Comrade Akpapi urged the women to take advantage of such empowerment programs to learn new skills to empower and prepare themselves for a world dominated by skills, which had become the new normal.
She used the opportunity to call on the incoming administration in the state to build on the achievements of the Okowa administration, stressing the need to collaborate with the labour unions to sustain and strengthen the robust synergy and cordial working relationship currently being enjoyed in the state.
The State Chairperson also applauded the support and encouragement of the Comrade (Engr) Festus Osifo led Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), the National Chairperson TUC Women Commission, Comrade Hafsat Shuaib and the TUC Delta State Chairman, Comrade Bolum Martin Nwachukwu.
She commended the State TUC Chairman for encouraging equity, peace and unity among the women in the Commission.
