As part of its economic and community development project, the Rotary Club of Asaba Diplomat has empowered market women with cash to help boost their businesses.
The gesture, which was aimed at positively affecting lives, was one of the seven focal areas of the Rotary Club.
Speaking on the occasion, which took place at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, the President of the Club, Clifford Osahenye, said more projects would be embarked on to touch more lives before the end of his tenure.
Some other members of the Club who made remarks, noted that the Club did not expect any reward from the beneficiaries, pointing out that the purpose of the empowerment initiative was to make life more meaningful to the beneficiaries.
In an interview, some of the beneficiaries, mostly petty traders, appreciated the Club for the grant, which they said would add value to their lives.
Ten women benefitted from the gesture.
