The Leader of the Legislative Arm of Ndokwa East Local Government Council,Mr Jude Isicheli and his Deputy, Mr Chukwuma Iwubeh, have been impeached.

Two other Principal Officers, Mr Festus Azubuike Obi, who was the Deputy Majority Leader and Caroline Nduzuka, the Deputy Chief Whip, have also been sacked.

The quartet, along with Mrs Ifeanyi Osakuni, are also to proceed on indefinite suspension.

Fifteen out of the twenty members of the House sat to impose the disciplinary actions with Mr Prince Onuah presiding as Leader protemporanous.

Mr Edemenya Friday, representing ward 12, who moved for the impeachment and indefinite suspension, which was seconded by Mr Ijeomah Chukwuemeka, representing ward 10, accused Mr Jude Isicheli of gross misconduct, abuse of office, dereliction of duty and disrespect to the hallow chamber of the House.

He disclosed that the House, under the impeached Leader, did not sit for over nine months, adding that shortly before the elections, the embattled Leader and some of his cohorts arranged an illegal sitting where the Council’s 2023 budget was passed in less than five minutes.

The House immediately elected Mr Edemenya Friday as its new Leader and Mr Prince Onuah as the Deputy Leader, with the other two affected positions to be filled in due course.
