A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Aniocha South local government area of Delta state, Chief Uju Udeme, has described the victory of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in the just concluded Governorship election in the state as a testimonial for the excellent performance of the Okowa administration in the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.
Chief Udeme, a renowned rice producer, in a congratulatory message to the Governor-elect and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, noted that Deltans had taken into cognisance the developmental strides of the PDP government under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and were convinced that continuity was the best way to go.
He said it would have been a major set back to the state if the opposition had won the Governorship election and thanked Deltans for insisting not to allow the legacies of the Okowa administration to be disconnected by self-serving politicians.
While expressing confidence in the ability of Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy to deliver on their mandate, the PDP chieftain stated that Governor Okowa deserved commendation for taking development to all parts of the state, which made it possible for the party to win in the entire Delta North and South, as well as in four out of the eight local government areas of Delta Central.
Chief Udeme said having secured victory for the party, it behoved all faithful, and indeed Deltans, to rally round the Governor-elect and his Deputy with lofty ideas that would add value to governance and make the state a preferred destination.
He prayed God to grant the Governor-elect the enablement to succeed and called on aggrieved members of the party to bury the hatchet and join hands with the incoming administration to move the state forward.
