A Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Pzafaama Helping Hands, founded by the wife of the Commander, Eagle Net Special Squad of the Delta State Police Command, Princess Hauwa Pamela Dimka, on Monday extended its humanitarian gesture to candidates registering for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination at the Delta State Library Complex, Asaba.

Realizing that the candidates were there without food and drinks, and without cash to buy anything for themselves due to the scarcity of the new Naira notes, the NGO came in with food and drinks to refresh the young boys and girls.

The Commander, Eagle Net Special Squad, Delta State Police Command, SP Usman Dimka, who supervised the distribution of the refreshment items, said it was his wife’s NGO’s way of giving back to society.

SP Dimka explained that the prevailing situation in the country, occasioned by the scarcity of cash to drive the Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) compelled Pzafaama Helping Hands to embark on the gesture, aimed at giving relief to the prospective JAMB candidates.

He said the organisation had been in the forefront of service to humanity, pointing out that he, as a person, derived joy and satisfaction from making others happy, which he disclosed was an orientation he picked up from his parents early in life.

SP Dimka debunked the erroneous impression that the police were stingy and hardly gave to the needy, stating that anyone with a large heart would always render help to people irrespective of his or her career or profession.

In her remarks, the Director, Delta State Library Service, Mrs Rosemary Eboh, said Pzafaama Helping Hands’ intervention in feeding the prospective JAMB candidates, who spent quite some time in the registration process, sometimes without eating, was thoughtful and commendable.

Mrs Eboh called on similar organisations to emulate Pzafaama Helping Hands so that life could be more meaningful to the needy and less privileged in the society.

Some of the JAMB registrants who spoke to our medium, said they never imagined that anyone would think of coming to feed them, especially with the prevailing economic situation in the country, and thanked the Usman Dimka family for using their NGO to touch lives.
