The Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the February 25, 2023 election, Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu, has identified some challenges in the distribution of his constituency empowerment items, with a pledge to be more inclusive in subsequent empowerment programmes.

Elumelu, who is the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, made the pledge when he visited Aniocha South communities in continuation of his Town Hall meetings with the People of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

He said he had continued to spend over 350 million every year in the empowerment of his constituents, but observed from the Town Hall meetings that the mode of distributing the empowerment items had remained a challenge.

The Federal Lawmaker, who visited twelve communities where he spent quality time with the people listening to them as they articulated their needs, said the Town Hall meetings provided him an opportunity to interact with the people with a view to knowing their critical needs, proffering immediate solutions, and taking notes of the ones for budgetary provisions.

The twelve communities visited  included Egbudu Akah, Ejeme Unor, Ejeme Aniogor, Nsukwa, Isheagu, Ukwu-Oba, Umute, Adonte, Abah Unor, Olloh and Olodu where Elumelu promised to restore electricity, build palaces, town halls, reactivate boreholes, and construct rural roads, amongst other demands of the communities.

The House of Representatives candidate also said it was imperative for the people to let those representing them know their needs, stressing that such information would help representatives to properly budget for and provide the people with the needed social amenities.

Elumelu thanked the communities for the support and warm welcome accorded him and promised to bring more development to them.

He urged them to vote massively for Atiku/Okowa Presidency and all candidates of the PDP to ensure a landslide victory in the general elections, and reminded them of the need to shun any form of electoral violence.

In the various communities visited, Elumelu paid courtesy visits to the traditional rulers and assured them that the Presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa would ensure that traditional rulers were assigned constitutional roles that would make them more relevant to the society.

In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers expressed confidence in Elumelu, describing him as a unique politician with genuine passion for the people, even as they offered their royal blessings and prayed for his re-election to the National Assembly.
